How Does It Work?

How does it work?

Access Abroad is a service that enables you to make cheap international calls without the need to register or pay a balance up front. The service can be used immediately from most UK phones. This works by first dialing an access number, and then following a prompt, the full number of the person you want to call abroad.

How do I pay for the calls I make?

When you use our service, you are charged by your telecom company for your call to our access number at the rate stated on our site. You will not receive a bill from us (we won't know who you are, therefore we cannot send you a bill!). When you receive your telecom bill, it will show a call to our access number, and not the country you are calling. So for example, if you make a 5 minute call to a certain destination from a BT phone via access number 0844 629 7007 which is charged at 3p/min; Next time you get your BT bill you will see a call to our 0844 629 7007 number, a duration of 5 minutes and a charge of 5 min x 3p = 15p + your providers standard connection fee (typically 5-6p).

Rates shown on this website are BT's charges per minute for calling our access numbers. Calls are charged from the moment you connect to the Access Abroad service. This service will work from mobile or other landline networks but may carry a surcharge. Please check with your provider for any possible surcharges to an 0844, 0871, 0900 etc type number, or alternatively if you have the facility to check your call charges in real-time, try a one or two minute call, and then check what your provider has charged you. Pay-as-you-go mobile users can check their balance before and after a trial call. Even if you are surcharged, the cost of the call could still be cheaper than what you are paying now.
